How to split a bill fairly with tax and tip
A simple way to calculate an equal share of a group bill after the tax and tip are added clearly.

Make the full total visible before splitting
Start with the amount before tax and tip, then add each extra amount once. Keeping those parts separate helps everyone understand the total and avoids adding a charge twice.
When tax or service charge is already included in the bill, leave that field at zero in the calculator. The goal is to reflect the receipt you have, not add a charge that is already included.
Divide equal shares after the additions
For an equal split, divide the complete total by the number of people. This gives each person the same contribution towards both the shared items and the agreed tax or tip.
The result can include a small decimal remainder. One person can take the remainder, everyone can round up, or a payment app can be used for the exact amount.
Use a different method for unequal orders
An equal split is simple when everyone shared the meal or expense equally. It can feel unfair when one person ordered a much more expensive item or did not take part in a particular cost.
In those cases, separate individual items first. Then divide only the truly shared portion, such as a shared starter, taxi, or accommodation cost.
