The difference is 510 minutes. Divide by 60 to get 8 complete hours, with 30 minutes remaining, so the time between 09:15 and 17:45 is 8 hours 30 minutes.

How to calculate minutes between two times

For a result entirely in minutes, keep both times as minutes after midnight and subtract. From 10:20 to 11:05, the difference is 665 minus 620, which equals 45 minutes.
